Jack grew up in Spokane Washington where he attended Gonzaga Preparatory School. He then worked for Chevron for five years before going on to earn a B.A. from Gonzaga University, a M.A. from Washington Sate University and eventually working toward a Doctoral degree at Northwestern.

Jack taught English and drama and was the Fine Arts Department Chair at Gonzaga Prep for 33 years. He met his soul mate, Donna, later in life and together they moved to New York to open a Bed and Breakfast at Oliver Phelps in the Finger Lake region.

From high school to graduate school and beyond, Jack’s focus has always been on theater and everything that surrounds it.

Over the years, he  had opportunities to gather those life experiences so important to  artists. As such, in addition to teaching, he worked as a bartender, waiter, cook, fork lift operator, bus driver, truck driver, salesman and farmhand.

Jack has directed on every level including Community Theater, University Theater, Regional Theater and Professional Theater, as well as taking on, as he puts it, the "wonderfully challenging and rewarding time as director of the McManus Comedies starring Tim Behrens.”
