Patrick F. McManus was a renowned outdoor writer, humorist, and a longtime columnist for Outdoor Life and Field & Stream magazines. He was the author of many books, including such runaway New York Times bestsellers as The Grasshopper Trap, The Night the Bear Ate Goombaw, Real Ponies Don't Go Oink!, and The Good Samaritan Strikes Again. He lived the majority of his life in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. â€‹â€‹
