Scholarship Program
The Pat and Darlene McManus Scholarship for
Creative Writing
In 1992, Pat McManus and his wife Darlene created a scholarship program for Eastern Washington University (EWU) students pursuing higher education in the fields of creative writing or journalism. Because EWU no longer offers a journalism major, the scholarship was recently revised to assist creative writing students in undergrad or graduate programs. Sales of Pat's book, "The Deer on a Bicycle; Excursions Into the Writing of Humor", which was printed by the EWU Press, helped fund the program. Pat also donated his time to teach workshops — proceeds of which were donated to the scholarship fund.
