Love Poem to Bun
Winter 1951-52
By Pat McManus
Included in the first letter Bun received from Pat after their first date on her 18th birthday, December 27, 1951.

Need a Translation?
We was sittin’ in m’ car,
A neckin’ and a kissin’,
Jus’ a mindin’ our own business,
When the motor started missin’!
Da’hleen kinda shivered and then she said,
Better stop now, honey,
Your motor is dead.
So we wrapped up in a blanket (convenient, I am told),
But I couldn’t have done nothin’,
I was just too dog-gone cold.
